About Danielle Morran — Registered Counsellor Serving Alberta
MC, CCC | Canadian Certified Counsellor
Hello, I'm Danielle Morran.
I'm a Canadian Certified Counsellor offering virtual therapy across Alberta for adults, and families. My work is grounded in a relational, trauma-informed, and somatic approach that honours the connection between our relationships, nervous systems, and lived experiences.
I provide online therapy for anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, burnout, attachment wounds, and life transitions for individuals and families across Alberta, including Calgary and Edmonton.
At the heart of my work is a belief that continues to shape how I understand people and healing: our wounds and our gifts often live side by side.
Not in opposition. Not in contradiction.
But in close proximity, shaping how we learn to survive, connect, and make meaning of our experiences.
Why this work matters to me
One of the things I hold most deeply in this work is that people make sense.
Even the parts of ourselves we struggle with.
Anxiety. Perfectionism. Disconnection. People-pleasing. Difficulty resting. Relationship struggles.
I have come to understand these not as flaws or signs that something is wrong, but as meaningful adaptations, ways we learned to cope, protect ourselves, preserve connection, or simply get through what was difficult.
I believe people heal when they feel seen, when they know they matter, and when they no longer have to carry everything alone.
Again and again, I have witnessed how healing begins when someone is met with kindness, steadiness, curiosity, and care.
Not because their pain disappears overnight, but because something shifts when another person helps hold what has felt too heavy, too lonely, or too confusing to carry by yourself.
There is something deeply powerful about having another person sit with you in your experience and communicate, through both words and presence:
"This makes sense."
"You matter."
"You do not have to do this alone."
This is what continues to ground me in this work.
How I work as a therapist
I practice from a relational and somatic lens, with additional training in EMDR and Somatic Attachment Psychotherapy.
In sessions, I pay close attention not only to what you are saying, but also to how your system is experiencing what is happening between us.
Therapy with me is not about pushing through or performing insight.
It is about slowing down enough to notice what is present, thoughts, emotions, sensations, and patterns, while creating space for your system to experience something different in relationship.
Over time, this can support greater regulation, flexibility, self-understanding, and a deeper sense of trust in yourself.
I work at a pace that respects your nervous system, rather than overriding it.

Outside of therapy
Outside of therapy, I am first and foremost a human being.
I have come to appreciate how often life asks us to hold multiple truths at once, joy and grief, love and hurt, connection and struggle.
I am a wife and a mom to a young child, and these roles continue to remind me of the beauty, complexity, and tenderness that come with being human.
Like many people, I understand that life can hold both deep love and deep challenge at the same time. I know what it is like to move through seasons of stress, navigate complicated relationships, and continue learning how to care for yourself while caring deeply for others.
I believe our experiences shape us, but they do not define us. I also believe that healing and growth continue throughout our lives, and I remain committed to doing my own work so that I can sit with others in theirs with openness, humility, and compassion.
Outside of the therapy room, I love to travel and hope to see as much of the world as I can. I was married in the Philippines, and experiencing different places, cultures, foods, and ways of living fills me with joy and wonder.
I also love coffee, sushi, gardening, reading, creating projects on my Cricut, baking, a good dance party in the kitchen, and rewatching Schitt's Creek more times than I can count.
These parts of my life continue to remind me that healing is rarely linear. It often unfolds slowly, in ordinary moments, in relationships, and alongside both struggle and joy.
If you're here
If you're here, something in your life may be asking for attention, support, or a different way of being with what you're carrying.
You do not need to arrive with perfect clarity or have the right words.
You simply need a place to begin.
If my approach resonates with you, I would be honoured to connect and explore whether working together feels like the right fit.
At Morran Counselling Therapy, we recognize that our work takes place on the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani), the Tsuut’ina, the Îyâxe Nakoda Nations, and the Métis Nation (Region 3), in what is now known as Treaty 7 territory in Southern Alberta. We hold deep respect for the wisdom, resilience, and ongoing contributions of the Indigenous peoples who have cared for this land since time immemorial. Acknowledgment is only one step in relationship and repair. We commit to continually learning, listening, and engaging in meaningful actions that support Indigenous sovereignty, healing, and reconciliation.
